Surfing Australia Teams With Brand New Media To Launch Surfing Show

Surfing Australia has teamed with content creation company brand new media (BNM) to produce a new weekly surfing television show mySURF.tv which will air on the Ten Network sports channel ONE.

The half hour show will premiere on Sunday 9 November at 4pm and will be hosted by Joel Hurrey of Domestic Blitz fame and leading Australian female pro-junior surfer Ellie-Jean Coffey.

The 12-part series will showcase the best surfing footage and profiles from Australia and around the globe, with Sunday’s first episode including stories with three-time World Champion Mick Fanning, Morning of the Earth creator Alby Falzon and legendary surfboard shaper Mitchel Rae, Aussie ASP World Championship Tour rookie Nikki Van Dijk and West Australian young gun Jack Robinson.

The TV program is an extension of mySURF.tv, an IPTV surfing channel, which was created by BNM in partnership with Surfing Australia in December 2013. The channel has rapidly built a highly passionate, engaged and growing audience base by providing high quality video content from its dedicated team of some of the world’s best surf producers and cameramen.

Simon Joyce, managing director of BNM, Australia and New Zealand said, “mySURF.tv is a terrific example of how smart brands can leverage premium video content to generate revenue streams, and develop an archive of valuable assets.  Brands now have the opportunity to become broadcasters and engage directly with their target audience.”

“The launch of mySurf.tv on ONE takes this to the next level and demonstrates the commercial possibilities when an enterprise is committed to creating exceptional proprietary content,” said Joyce.

CEO of Surfing Australia, Andrew Stark added, “Surfing Australia is extremely excited to be producing our latest 12-part TV series mySURF.tv to be aired on ONE nationally commencing this Sunday. It is important for Surfing Australia to reach a broader audience and for us to increase the profile of our sport Australia wide.

This TV series is an important complementary extension to our new digital content platform www.mysurf.tv that was built to reach a broader audience and to support Surfing Australia in our commercial sustainability program,” said Stark.

The announcement reflects BNM’s commitment to building out a lifestyle multi channel network that offers brands new and innovative ways to connect with their target audience through video content creation.

The announcement follows the appointment of renowned ex- Fairfax journalist and publisher Lisa Hudson, as Head of Lifestyle Channels last month. Hudson is leading BNM’s content offering in IPTV channel creation in the health and food verticals.
