another celebrity has forced social media platform Snapchat into another downward spiral on the stock market, with popstar Rihanna taking issue with one of its ads featuring her and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Snapchat found itself in strife after it ran an ad for an online gaming site that asked users if they’d rather “slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown”.

The ad clearly references a domestic violence assault between Brown and his then girlfriend, the pop singer Rihanna, in 2009, and drew widespread criticism from Snapchatters.

The platform issued an apology and removed the ad. However, Rihanna took to Instagram to let her fans know how she felt about Snapchat.Rihanna's Instagram story

Rihanna’s Insta story saw Snap Inc.’s stock market value fall almost four per cent, losing roughly $US800 million (A$1.038 billion).

It comes after Snap’s share price tumbled a whopping $US1.3 billion ($A1.7 billion) following a tweet from Kylie Jenner, who claimed she no longer used it.
