Gen X boyband heartthrob, Ronan Keating will return to smoothfm to host his own Sunday night show focusing on everything smooth 90s anthems from George Michael to Janet Jackson.

Keating previously worked with smoothfm, having made his debut over Christmas in 2012, before returning in January 2013 and 2019 to host a series of weekend shows on the station.

Peter Clay, NOVA Entertainment’s Head of Programming smoothfm said Keating was the “perfect person” to host the new show.

“He’s an amazing artist, having created huge hits during the 90’s as part of one of the most successful boy bands,” he said.

“He has been an absolute joy to work with over the years and we can’t wait to share this new show with listeners with Ronan doing the shows from home while travel is restricted.

“Keating has defined pop music over two decades and has just released the intimate album, Songs From Home that hand picks twelve homeland songs and celebrates his love for Irish music.”

Ronan Keating is the latest in a long list of high profile artists and personalities to join the smoothfm line-up including Sir Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé, Olivia Newton-John, Neil Diamond, Elton John and Dolly Parton.

The Irish singer-songwriter has achieved notable success throughout his career, selling over 25 million records as part of Boyzone. He has achieved great success as a solo artist with 30 consecutive Top 10 singles, 10 studio albums and selling over 20 million records.

The show will premiere Sunday 21 November at 7pm.
