Following in the footsteps of another hardware developer (no names will be spoken!) PlayStation Plus subscribers will now be given the choice between three options that will provide them access to a huge library of games.

The first of these options, called ‘Essential’, is pretty much what PS Plus subscribers have been offered all this time, with a AU$11.95 monthly fee that gives them access to online multiplayer titles, a number of free games each month (chosen by PlayStation themselves from their vast selection of titles,) cloud storage for their save files and exclusive discounts to games purchased digitally via the PlayStation Store.

The second option, and one of the two new ones, called ‘Extra’, offers everything in the ‘Essential’ package, with the addition of over 400 games from within the PS4 and PS5 library, which will be regularly updated. The subscription fee for this tier will be at around AU$17.99 per month, or AU$131 for a whole year.

All-new PlayStation Plus launches in June with three flexible membership options.

The last option, which offers the greatest variety of choice, is the ‘Premium’ tier (or ‘Deluxe’ for Aussie users.) This is a package deal of both the ‘Essential’ and ‘Extra’, with the games library being expanded to over 340 game titles including PS3 games, which are available via cloud streaming (although unfortunately this option is not available in Australia) and a number of beloved PS2, PSP and original PlayStation classics. The price for the highest tier of PS Plus will be at about AU$23.99 (monthly) or around AU$160.

It’s worth pointing out that these prices are estimates and based solely on conversions from the US prices, as no official announcement has been made by Sony regarding the cost of PS Plus Extra and Deluxe in the AU region.
