The first three episodes of the highly anticipated limited drama series Nine Perfect Strangers premiered on Amazon Prime Video Australia last Friday, becoming the biggest series launch of 2021 on Amazon across drama, comedy, limited series or unscripted releases.
The series, which was filmed on location in Australia’s Byron Bay and stars Australian actors including Nicole Kidman, Asher Keddie and Samara Weaving, scored higher viewers in it’s opening weekend than any other series of 2021.
Amazon Prime Video measures viewer numbers by counting individual users for each new release. This is to ensure consistency across all titles, whether they watched a single episode or multiple episodes.
Tyler Bern, head of content for Amazon Prime Video Australia and New Zealand said, “the runaway success of Nine Perfect Strangers in Australia is testament to the incredibly talented creative teams who worked tirelessly to create this exceptional series.”
“Amazon Prime Video is proud to share Australian storytelling with audiences across the globe, and is excited for viewers to see how this unique and extraordinary story progresses.”
