Musk “Terrified” Of Employees Sabotaging Twitter

Chief twit Elon Musk has been giving the employees of his new company a hell of a ride recently.

An email went round the company this week, giving employees an ultimatum. Sign up for “hardcore” culture of “long hours at high intensity” or leave. Staff have until 5pm ET today to accept the offer or leave.

However, with a swathe of employees choosing to, y’know, spend time with family and friends, sleep, and do other not-work things, it seems Musk is having to back down.

Journalist Zoë Schiffer tweeted that Musk has relaxed the work from home policy.

Twitter staffers will be able to work remotely if their managers says they are doing “excellent” work. But staff have to attend in-person meetings “ideally weekly, but not less than once per month.”

Musk then said that “At risk of stating the obvious, any manager who falsely claims that someone reporting to them is doing excellent work or that a given role is essential, whether remote or not, will be exited from the company.”

However, it seems as though the paranoia is creeping in for Musk following a wave of staff resignations.

All Twitter offices temporarily closed today with no details given or heads-up.

Schiffer tweeted that Musk and his team are “terrified” of employees sabotaging the company.

The company has now confirmed that the offices will reopen on Monday and has reminded staff to “continue to comply with company policy by refraining from discussing confidential company information on social media, with the press or elsewhere.”

Sounds like the big-brain genius is feeling the walls closing in.
