Early reports for the Queen’s funeral are predicting 4.1 billion eyeballs tuned in to say goodbye to the Queen worldwide.
If the reports are correct, it would mean the Queen’s funeral is the most watched television event in history. Surpassing the Moon Landing and all Royal Weddings.
In Australia, The Queen’s funeral certainly did the business. Nine and Seven got plenty of eyeballs for Queen coverage, while 10’s lack of Queen coverage left the network with only 8.8 per cent of the share.
As per OzTam’s reporting, the winner of the night was Seven’s The Grateful Goodbye, which pulled in 975,000 eyeballs – I feel Seven missed out on a very important opportunity to bring Kerri Anne back!
Meanwhile, Nine’s funeral coverage managed 879,000 viewers – Peter and Tracy not knowing who Liz Truss was is my new favourite thing.
ABC’s royal coverage brought in 708,000 eyeballs.
In straight-up news, Nine News secured 833,000 viewers. Seven News brought in 909,000 viewers. While ABC’s News brought in 528,000 viewers.
Meanwhile, 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention amassed 324,00 viewers. 10 News First landed 247,000 viewers.
Out on top was Seven Network with 30.2 per cent, and behind was Nine Network with 27.7. Meanwhile, ABC got 27.6 per cent.
Followed by 10 Networks with 8.8 per cent of the share, while SBS had 5.6 per cent
