The remaining contestants had to design a dish “inspired by nature” on Network 10’s Dessert Masters last night.

For one contestant the nature-themed challenge would prove to be somewhat of a nightmare.

Contestant Kirsten Tibballs came up with the genius idea of making a chocolate birdcage with birds and butterflies on it.

The end result was nothing short of fabulous, that was until it shattered with just two minutes to go. Oops.

The shattered cage (be free birds!) meant Tibballs was, unfortunately, eliminated from the competition. You can watch the disaster here:

A total of 471,000 metro viewers signed up to watch the episode last night, making it the third most-watched entertainment show of the night.

It was trumped by Seven’s The 1% Club which pulled in 527,000 metro views and The Chase Australia which had 487,000 metro views.

Overall Seven won the night with 28.6 per cent of views, it was followed by Nine with 25.8 per cent, Network 10 with 19.0 per cent, the ABC with 18.2 per cent and SBS with 8.4 per cent.
