LeBron James, A One Man Brand

LeBron James, A One Man Brand

As the speculation of where LeBron James should play in the NBA next season reaches a tipping point, B&T explores the ramification such a decision might have on ticket prices should The King join the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James is a one man brand.

If LeBron James Returns To Cleveland, Cavaliers Tickets Could Be Most Expensive In NBA.

Momentum is building for a LeBron James homecoming. The four-time MVP hasn’t made any public statements, but reports indicate it’s possible he’ll leave the Miami Heat for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The impact a LeBron James return would have on ticket prices for home games on the Cavaliers schedule would be profound. So big, in fact, that it could catapult the Quicken Loans Arena, the home of the Cavs, to the top of the list of most expensive basketball venues for the 2014-15 season.

Prices for Cavaliers tickets have plummeted since the King left in the wake of the “The Decision” in 2010. In his final season with the Cleveland, LeBron and the Cavs made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals and had an average price of $195 for that campaign, according to data from TiqIQ. The next year, prices plummeted to an average price of $51.

Despite a strong young core that includes Kyrie Irving, prices have not come anywhere close to returning to LeBron-era levels.
