JOLT & Transport For NSW Partner To Introduce Free EV Charging Stations With Digital Advertising Screens
Electric vehicle (EV) drivers in Greater Sydney will now have access to more free 7kWh, fast streetside charging stations, as JOLT and Transport for NSW today launch the first in a series of new charging sites with integrated digital advertising screens.
This significant expansion of JOLT’s digital out-of-home network provides brands with further opportunities to connect with high-quality and engaged audiences during unique transiting and charging moments.
As part of the partnership, JOLT is set to roll out more than 100 digital out-of-home screens, with integrated EV charging capability, at commuter car parks and other transport assets in the next year as it works with Transport for NSW to provide more sustainable transport solutions.
The charger network will connect with EV drivers as well as commuters around the transport hubs, including pedestrians and drivers passing by. Transport for NSW’s transport network recorded more than 53 million journeys in October 2023 alone.
“JOLT chargers are located in key metropolitan areas to help in our mission to reduce barriers to EV ownership and to provide advertisers with even more opportunities to connect with valuable metro transiting audiences. Through the expansion of fast chargers across the Transport for NSW network, JOLT provides EV drivers with convenient access to 7kWh of free, fast and clean EV charging, and offers an expanded and desirable digital out-of-home opportunity for brands,” said JOLT CEO, Doug McNamee.
“By using JOLT’s free charging top-ups, EV drivers could save more than $1,000 per year on their charging expenses. Drivers also get the added benefit of knowing they’re contributing to a greener future, reducing air pollution and helping to combat climate change”.
“JOLT’s Australian network usage is rapidly expanding, increasing by 602% in the past 12 months. Commitment from advertisers has almost tripled year on year with a diverse range of brands utilising our digital out-of-home network”.
“JOLT and Transport for NSW’s agreement propels our digital out-of-home network forward, delivering further scale and frequency. JOLT provides brands with the ability to connect with high-quality, pioneering and engaged audiences, including those transiting, along with EV drivers charging their cars,” said JOLT head of sales and platforms, Michael Selden.
“Running on 100 per cent GreenPower, support from our advertising partners allows us to continue to offer drivers free top up charging with renewable resources, and will continue to deliver carbon reductions now and into the future”.
JOLT’s digital out-of-home network has featured hundreds of diverse brands, including Audi, Telstra, Woolworths, Amazon, Nine Network, the Federal and South Australian governments, Macquarie Bank, Mercedes, Commonwealth Bank, Binge, Stripe, Polestar, Myer, Stan, Origin, NAB, Stake, GWM, Cool Ridge, Lexus, Classic Laddie, Queensland Tourism, Live Nation, People’s Choice Credit Union, Snooze, Suncorp, ALDI, Allianz, BMW and Land Rover.
“This is an exciting opportunity for advertisers to align with high traffic urban assets in the Greater Sydney area. The network delivers reach to a broad audience and enables advertisers to target the progressive EV owner segment,” said Brittany Crowley, co-head of investment, Sydney at PHD Australia, a partner media agency of JOLT.
JOLT is committed to enhancing the accessibility and convenience of EV charging infrastructure across NSW. The installation of the first EV charger represents a major step towards building a robust network of charging stations, enabling EV owners to travel confidently and with peace of mind, knowing that charging opportunities are readily available.
In the last year, EV registrations have risen more than 150 per cent on average across NSW. Globally, it is expected that battery-powered EVs will make up 20 per cent of overall car sales by 2025 and nearly 60 per cent by 2035.
JOLT is set to further expand its operations across Australia and internationally, having recently partnered with Canadian operator TELUS to roll-out 5,000 EV chargers across Canada and the roll out of thousands of chargers in the UK. The Transport for NSW contract follows JOLT’s expansion of charging sites in partnerships with Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy, delivering hundreds of fast chargers in the coming years, and its recent expansion into New Zealand
