Dentsu Aegis’s MD Of Activations Kylie Green Shares All With B&T!

A firm believer in running straight to what you’re afraid of, as well as being partial to the skinny chai latte, Kylie Green managing director of activations at the Dentsu Aegis Network, is the latest recruit to bare her soul in our celebration of everyone in the industry.

If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing?

At school I wanted to work in advertising or be a Vet – specialising in horses. Having an allergy to animals was always going to prove a little challenging had I pursued the latter career choice!

What’s one thing not many know about you?

I have a horse tattoo! Not telling where.

What would you change about the industry?

I’d like to see more game-changers given the opportunity to step up into senior and managerial roles.  Just because someone is 21 or 24 and only has two or three years’ experience in the industry doesn’t mean they aren’t the next Gen Y game-changer that could make your business escalate and grow exponentially.  Give them the chance rather than hold them back based on age, experience or rites of passage.

Who’s your industry hero?

It’s difficult to choose! I admire Bryce Courtenay for his humble soul and his bravery to explore alternate creative pursuits. NewsLifeMedia’s CEO, Nicole Sheffield is a fantastic female idol. Also, Liz Courtney, ex-GM of Cartwright Williams who has been my mentor and guiding light. Along with Terence-Liam Preece, my very first boss in advertising who took me under his wing and taught me so, so much.

What makes good leadership?

For me, good leadership is driven by three key measures – connection, impact and change.

If you could be Prime Minister for a week, what would you do?

Firstly, I would appoint myself into the job long-term – not just a week. Make some quick changes that has taken other parties years to make decisions on, including legalising same-sex marriage and gender balance in the cabinet. I’d also change my title to something more modern and relevant to today, change things up and move forward.

What’s your favourite kind of cheese?

Anything gooey and French!
