In an April Fool’s day filled with many bad gags and tacky promotions, IKEA managed to stand out from the crowd with ‘HUND COUTURE’.
A nod to high-fashion and haute couture, HUND COUTURE involves decking out dogs in IKEA’s iconic $1 FRANKTA bags.
You can see the April 1 video below.
And while the gimmick screams April Fool’s, IKEA is now inviting people to make the doggy outfits in real-life.
The flatpack furniture company has released the design instructions for three unique looks; ‘BUSINESS’, ‘RUFFLE, and ‘FRILLNECK’.
The manuals look quite similar to an actual IKEA furniture manual, but rather than specifying on Allen keys and screws, they provide guidance on how many of the $1 FRANKTA bags are required and how they should be deconstructed.
Be warned, they do look quite difficult, so this might be one for the more talented dog outfit designers amongst us.
