It’s been difficult to laugh in these COVID-19 isolating times. So, it’s hats off to Amazon employee Mario Chippen who’s delivered a TV interview that’s as heartfelt as it is hilarious.
Following an outbreak of coronavirus at an Amazon warehouse in Detroit, Chippen organised an employee protest that soon piqued the interest of local TV station WXYZ.
Chippen told the TV news service that while he understood if Amazon cut back hours and remained open to sell essentials, he didn’t consider a lot of the products still being sold “essentials,” such as dildos.
“They should not be selling non-essential items,” Chippen told WXYZ’s camera crew. “If you go on the website, all the essential items are sold out. Until you restock and until you close this building, shut it down. Dildos are not essential items. Books, for kids, yes, but dildos? No.”
