Burger King’s Free Halloween Whoppers Merely An Evil Dig At Ronald McDonald

Burger King’s Free Halloween Whoppers Merely An Evil Dig At Ronald McDonald

With the resurgent interest in clowns – particularly evil ones – following the release of IT, comes a new Burger King promotion that’ll reward customers with a free Whopper burger who front up in-store dressed as a clown (evil or otherwise).

Sadly, the promotion is only available at Burger Kings flagship Leicester Square restaurant in London and in five major US cities and only available over this Halloween weekend. Burger King have also released this evil clown-inspired social media campaign as part of its Halloween promotion:

Burger King says the promotion is based on a Google study that shows that dressing as a clown is now the third most popular Halloween costume (apparently Wonder Woman is number one and Harley Quinn is number two).

However, more astute media judges claim the promo is another dig at arch-rival McDonald’s clown mascot, Ronald McDonald. In fact, Burger King are openly agitating for Ronalds to turn up as part of its free Whopper promo.

Commenting on the stunt, Renato Rossi, head of marketing for Burger King UK, said: “The Burger King brand is known for welcoming all customers and putting the crown on everyone’s head. This Halloween, come like a clown to eat like a king.”
