The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a TV commercial for Audi’s new R8 Supercar because it allegedly promoted dangerous driving.

It’s unsure how many complaints the ad actually received but one complaint argued that the TVC associated speed with excitement.

Check the offending ad out here:

Although the ad doesn’t show the R8 speeding, it shows a close-up of the driver’s pupil changing size while the sound of a revving engine and changing up gears can be heard in the background.

The car marker disagreed that the ad linked speed with excitement or that it was irresponsible, however, agreed with the ASA’s decision that it did contravene standards associated with car advertising.
