Lisa Wilkinson and Peter FitzSimons have taken to Twitter to support their daughter amidst backlash.
So how did we get here? Well, Billi FitzSimons, the daughter of Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Fitzsimmons has scored the role of editor at The Daily Aus, before her 25th birthday.
But, before you pop the bubbly, the news was met with some backlash online with Twitter users calling the younger FitzSimons’s achievement nepotism.
One wrote, “Must be nice having wealth and connections!” And another wrote, “Barnaby Joyce’s 22-year-old daughter was employed as a Senior Advisor to John Barillaro.
“Anything can happen with nepotism.”
In response, both her famous parents used their social media platforms to celebrate her success, FitzSimons wrote: “She works like a demon!” and Wilkinson wrote, “Very proud.”
Her mother was made editor of Dolly at the age of 21, and went well. In Billi's case she is Editor of a platform that is going after a mob her age, in their 20s, and getting them in droves. 330,000 followers in last couple of years or so. She works like a demon, and will go well. https://t.co/fYCrAToh5l

Our daughter, @BilliFitzSimons is 24. The instagram platform she just became editor of is a brilliant new way to get your news. Targeted at young people, many of whom don’t trust MSM. I use it every day. If you’re not following @TheDailyAus on instagram you’re missing out. 👏👏👏 https://t.co/tvFAN8aI6I

Of course, two things can be true at once, FitzSimons can have earned her promotion and privilege can also make it easier for you to earn these things.
Either way, there’s no doubt she’s going to do big things!
