MercerBell has snared OgilvyOne’s Simon Bloomfield as its creative group head, responsible for Toyota and Mastercard creative.

At OgilvyOne Bloomfield was creative brand guardian for the American Express work of the agency, with other former employers including Euro RSCG, Clemenger Proximity, BWM and Hyro.

He also spent a year as a senior copywriter at MercerBell in 2005.

ECD David Bell said: “Someone of Simon’s immense experience is a rare find and we are thrilled to welcome him to the creative team.”

Bloomfield added: “I’ve known Nick and David for some time, and both have had an immeasurable influence on my career.

“I always had a feeling I’d work with them at some stage, and the chance to join them in a role such as this – where I can really contribute to the success of the agency – seemed like the perfect opportunity.

“They are an agency on the rise, with a real eye to the future, and I look forward to playing an important part in that.”
