MasterCard brings back superfan Tim in All Blacks campaign

MasterCard has resurrected fanatical fan Tim in a new partnership with the All Blacks stars to launch contactless payment system PayPass in New Zealand.

Tim first appeared in the MasterCard ‘Check In’ campaign via McCann Sydney last year, and the latest installment sees Ali Williams, Ma’a Nonu and Richie McCaw rushing to the super fan’s wedding.

The first ad won Best Ad in New Zealand at the 2012 Fair Go awards.

John Mescall, ECD of McCann Australia said: “How do you follow up New Zealand's favourite ad of 2012? Well, you dash the hopes of tens of thousands of Kiwi women everywhere by marrying-off the lovable little hero of the campaign: Tim. Sorry, ladies.”

The campaign launches on Sunday and will include cinema and out-of-home executions and a social campaign run by MercerBell, and fans can get behind-the-scenes content and win signed prizes on the Facebook page.

It was directed by Adam Stevens from Robbers Dog.
