2GB has cut ties with broadcaster Chris Smith after he was accused of inappropriate behaviour at a work Xmas event.

The termination follows the Sky News Christmas party at the weekend, where Smith has conceded his behaviour was unacceptable and “apologising profusely” for his “drunken treatment” of women.

Sky News has yet to make a formal announcement on its future with Smith. Although, he has been currently pulled from the air and is suspended while an investigation is underway.

Nine’s Managing Director of Radio, Tom Malone, said: “Chris’ behaviour represents a serious breach of his contract and is not aligned with the values of 2GB.”

Nine has provided support to Chris in recent days and will continue to offer that support as required.
