As keen readers of B&T would’ve noted we’ve been keeping a sharp eye across Seven’s cake cook-off program Zumbo’s Just Desserts. Some have even suggested (namely some Seven employees) we’d been too harsh on the struggling program despite only reporting the actual Oztam audience figures.

And fair’s fair, last night’s fourth instalment attracted 769,000 metro viewers according to Oztam, a slight bounce of 35,000 viewers from last Thursday’s episode. Having stemmed the tide – the show had lost a third of its audience from its debut last Monday week – it’s safe to say Zumbo appears to have found its audience and, hopefully, may attract more viewers as the show culls contestants and moves towards the finals.

However, it wasn’t all croquembouche for Zumbo and Seven execs. The show was only the 13th most watched program last night, dropping one spot from last Thursday.

Seven again won the night with its news and current affairs programs; however, Zumbo still lost out to Nine’s stalwart home reno show The Block (5th with 932,000 viewers) and Nine’s Married At First Sight’s gay wedding (11th with 805,000 viewers.)

The ABC also claimed a stellar evening with four of its programs in last night’s top 10. Its news came it at sixth, 7.30 at seventh spot, Australian Story at eighth and Four Corners at number nine.
