Spotify has officially launched music videos in Australia, expanding its platform to offer fans an even more immersive experience. Following a successful beta rollout in 11 markets earlier this year, the streaming giant has now introduced music videos for Spotify Premium subscribers across additional regions, including Australia.

The introduction of music videos to Spotify’s ecosystem is aimed at enhancing the connection between artists and their fans. Since their initial release, music videos have become an integral part of the streaming experience, with users 34 per cent more likely to re-stream a song in the following week after watching its video. Furthermore, songs discovered through music videos are 24 per cent more likely to be saved or shared, deepening user engagement.

With this expansion, Spotify has also rolled out new features designed to elevate the experience, such as:

  • Time Synced Switch: Easily switch between video and audio on mobile and desktop, continuing your listening journey on the go.
  • Video Indicators: Tracks with music videos will now feature indicators for easier discovery.
  • New Music Video Notifications: Alerts for recommended or recently saved tracks featuring music videos.
  • Music Video on Search: Users can now quickly locate music videos by searching for their favourite tracks or artists.

To access these features, Spotify Premium users can simply tap the “Switch to video” button when viewing a track. The music video will play seamlessly in the Now Playing view, and users can easily return to audio by tapping “Switch to audio.” For a full-screen experience, videos can be watched in landscape mode on mobile devices.
