Vogue Australia’s September Issue with cover girl Indigenous model Magnolia Maymuru has become the magazine most liked cover online in Vogue Australia’s History!

Maymuru’s cover made a splash online, garnering more than 20,000 likes and 600 comments on Vogue Australia’s Instagram.

The post even garnered likes and comments from notable figures such as Zoe Foster Blake and Zinnia Kumar.

In comparison, Vogue Australia’s August issue only received just over 6,000 thousand likes, with thirteen comments.

Proud Yolngu woman, Maymuru, was photographed for the iconic September cover holding her daughter, Djarranran. The image was shot at sunrise on Turimetta Beach, New South Wales.

The cover is part of a global Vogue initiative to symbolise new beginnings. Vogue September issues all around the world, will be celebrating what new beginnings means to them.

The September issue has long been dubbed the magazines most important yearly issue, with September signifying a new season and a chance for Vogue to forecast the next trends and set the path of style for the rest of the year.

Edwina McCann, editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, said: “I have never been more proud than I am of this cover: a beautiful woman and her baby girl before an Australian sunrise.

“So raw and so stunning, full of meaning, and pointing to new beginnings, which are calling us all.”
