As students around the country face making the important decision on what university to attend, The University of Sydney has launched its new brand campaign, via creative agency The Monkeys, to help them make the right choice.
The campaign, ‘The things you learn here’, reassures prospective students facing the option of where and what to study, with advice from current University of Sydney students.
“At 17, making the choice of where to go to uni can be exciting, but also really overwhelming. There’s an immense amount of pressure to make a choice that feels like it’s for the rest of your life”, said University of Sydney deputy director of marketing and communications Johanna Lowe.
“University is more than the course you pick; it’s the friends you make and all of the life experiences you gain along the way. This campaign is about living up to our brand purpose of ‘Leadership for good’; and who better to reassure people making this big decision than those who’ve gone before them – our students.”
To bring the campaign to life, The Monkeys set up an experiential video booth on campus to encourage students to voice the unexpected lessons they have learnt at university. Footage from this campus activation is presented in a video compilation of tips and advice, to run across social and on the University of Sydney’s website.
Outdoor posters tailored to each student’s lesson complement the film, featuring a cross section of inspiring students, including those studying health, engineering, arts, law, business and more. Each poster features a different piece of advice, such as ‘Knowledge is better shared’, ‘Not knowing what you want to do is OK’, and ‘High school doesn’t define you’.
