The UK’s biggest hit radio station, Capital FM, has launched its latest ad, featuring a raft of celebrities and musicians trying – and mostly failing – to impress a trio of judges.
The ad is based on the ‘audition’ process, popularised by shows such as American Idol and X Factor, and sees Capital’s brekky show hosts, Roman Kemp, Siân Welby and Sonny Jay bearing witness to a line of celebs desperately trying to impress the trio and score a spot on Capital FM.
The line-up includes Ed Sheeran, who is shown tediously fuddling with his set mechanics much to the judges’ bemusement, followed by YouTube superstar, KSI exercising his musical prowess with the universally adored recorder.

Being a UK-based advertisement, the clip also features names that might as well be in Greek for us antipodean viewers, such as Joel Corry, Becky Hill, Olly Alexander, and Anne-Marie.
However, all found themselves in no-less amusing situations, from awkwardly playing with hula-hoops, to inadvertently auditioning in a completely different building.
Globally recognised rapper, Lil Nas X also makes an appearance via Zoom, in which he belts out a tune for the judges, despite his mic clearly not being turned on.
“We wanted to rope in some friends of the show for our latest TV ad and have a bit of fun,” said Kemp in a press release.
“Everyone was up for the challenge and we had such a laugh making it. We hope you enjoy it!”
