Ride-sharing app Uber has been the most talked about brand on Australian Facebook pages during July this year.

The social media company has released data about what its users were buzzing about on the platform for the past month, with Uber taking the cake. Or ice cream as it turns out, as it was Uber’s promotion with decadent ice cream brand Gelato Messina that really had users salivating all over the internet.

The promotion saw Uber and Messina join forces to deliver ice cream to Uber users. And it was received a lot better than Uber’s previous attempt at delivering kittens to companies for a play and a cuddle.

Apple was the second most talked about brand on the platform, most likely due to its launch of a new music streaming venture, Apple Music.

While only announced a short while ago, the venture has already dominated the headlines, most notably when Taylor Swift took a swift swipe at the company for not paying artists.

Windows 10 was the third most chatted about brand on Facebook – due largely to the fact Microsoft was rolling out the new campaign, giving users the chance to update their software for free.

Here’s the top seven most talked about brands on Facebook.

  1. Uber
  2. Apple Inc.
  3. Windows 10
  4. Jetstar Airways
  5. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles
  6. Jeep Cherokee
  7. Mitsubishi

When it came to people who were the hot topics of conversations, Adam Goodes predictably dominated the top spot.

Everyone wanted to share their opinion on what was happening with the Sydney Swans player and why he was being booed. Adland had a lot to say about the saga too, with Jonathan Pease, ideas director at agency Tongue, telling B&T at the time the crowd needed to turn a “boo into a boom”.

Former Speaker Bronwyn Bishop also gathered a fair amount of buzz on the platform, namely for her lavish expenses coming to light.
