It was a quiet Thursday night in TV land last night with half the country out trick-or-treating, but huge audiences turned up as Nine celebrated 60 years of the Aussie legend that is John Farnham.
The special, which included rare and never-before-seen footage of the superstar, raked in a total TV national reach of 1,918,000 and a national average of 865,000.
The special came at an apt time with the performer recently opening up about his ‘abusive’ and ‘sexually aggressive’ first manager in his new memoir, The Voice Inside, published last week.
In the memoir, he confessed for the first time about his alleged abusive relationship with his first manager, Darryl Sambell, accusing him of being “sexually aggressive” towards him and controlling what he sang, wore and ate. The extent of the alleged abuse has come to light for the first time with the singer writing that he “used me like a piece of meat”.
Over on Ten, it was Top Gear that did the numbers with a total TV national reach of 742,000 as Blaire, Beau, and Jonathan headed off-road to go extreme caravanning.
