Last night, Nine’s A Current Affair told the story of Mickey, a cockatoo rescued after a month living inside a Coles supermarket in Sydney’s south-west. The episode raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,501,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 983,000.

Mickey was reportedly living off brioche and gaining celebrity status. But the cockatoo’s extended stay at a supermarket caused quite the stir. Wildlife rescue organisation WIRES said retrieving the feathered friend was harder than expected.

“The issue is the ceiling is too high to catch him with a net, and if he’s hit with a tranquilliser he’ll die when he hits the ground,” a WIRE spokesperson said.

Campbelltown local Ravi Wasan from the volunteer-run organisation Sydney Wildlife Rescue brought his own cockatoo to assist with luring the wild bird down to safety on Tuesday.

A dramatic turn of events on Tuesday’s episode of My Kitchen Rules raked in a Total TV National Reach of 1,596,000 for Seven.

Fan favourites Hannah and Lawrence were eliminated after a tense showdown in the kitchen. Fans were surprised by the elimination, capping off three intense nights of cooking challenges that tested the remaining contestants.

Hannah and Lawrence’s Honey and Ginger cake failed to impress, earning a total score of 19 out of 30, the lowest of the night. Mike and Pete narrowly escaped elimination with their Pavlova, which scored 21 points. Simone and Viviana delivered a stellar performance with their Crostata Ai Frutti Di Bosco (Mixed Berry Tart), securing an impressive 27 out of 30 and ensuring their place in the next round.

“Honestly, we gave it everything we could. We worked our butts off to get to where we are now. I’m just proud of how far we came,” said Hannah.

“The only thing that I know for certain is I’m going to marry this girl,” added Lawrence.

That wasn’t all for the drama, though. Judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge delivered a major twist, revealing that the remaining five teams will embark on another whirlwind journey across the country for the Ultimate Instant Restaurant Round.

Over on Channel 10, Taskmaster brought in a Total TV National reach of 859,000.
