Last week the US military made world news after it lost one of its brand new $US100 million F-35 fighter jets after the pilot ejected, reportedly due to bad weather, but what was later described by officials as a “mishap”.
The pilotless jet went missing from radar screens over South Carolina, forcing the US Marines Corps to call on the public to track down the debris where it was finally located in a field in rural Williamsburg County.
With no footage to show and desperate for a story, news broadcaster NBC managed to track down local man, Randolph White, who happened to hear the plane’s final plunge into a nearby field.
Wearing an iconic straw hat and what looks like a security vest, White delivered a stunning version of the screeching noise he heard as the jet descended overhead which he initially assumed to be a meteorite falling to Earth. Watch White in action below:

The interview has since been viewed more than four million times after it was shared by Barstool Sports on X/Twitter.
