Rumours are circulating that Netflix will purchase rights for in-demand content, but they might struggle if Stan, the joint venture between Nine Entertainment and Fairfax have already tied up rights to poplar movies and TV programs. Stan is yet to reveal its launch date. Netflix arrives here at the end of March.

Netflix looks set to have a bumpy landing in Australia this March with reports a number of its prized TV shows, including House of Cards, will not be available to local subscribers.

The company will roll out its on-demand services in Australia on March 31, with a starting price of $9.99 per month.

But as the months tick down to launch, reports have surfaced claiming Australian subscribers will not have access to all Netflix creations, including ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Orange Is The New Black’.

Cnet reports the US political drama starring Kevin Spacey will not be available due to the company’s licensing arrangements with pay TV networks like Foxtel.

A large number of shows and films have already begun disappearing from Netflix stables.
