The leader of the opposition, Anthony Albanese’s budget reply speech pulled 391,000 viewers for the ABC last night but was soundly trumped by 10’s double-whammy of Googlebox (613,000) and The Bachelorette (543,000).
Albo’s counter-punch was a good 127,000 off Josh Frydenberg’s budget speech that pulled 518,000 on Tuesday. All numbers are OzTAM metro.
Seven managed to win Thursday by not doing a helluva lot, the network pulling 29.1 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Nine went Block-free and had 24.6 per cent. 10 did 22.3 per cent, the ABC pulled 15.7 per cent and SBS mustered 8.4 per cent.
Seven’s evening ran this way: 6pm news (970,000), The Chase (501,000), Home And Away (495,000) and The Front Bar (310,000).
Nine’s standouts were its 6pm news (891,000), ACA (722,000), Hot Seat (489,000), a repeat of Paramedics (403,000) and Kings Cross ER (341,000).
10’s The Project had 481,000 and 10 News First did 328,000.
Albo’s speech aside, other doers for the ABC were its 7pm news (665,000), 7.30 (335,000) and Escape From The City (327,000).
