Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has announced that it will start broadcasting TEN HD in northern NSW and on the Gold Coast from 21 September.
SCA said in a statement that viewers in northern NSW – which includes Newcastle, Tamworth, Taree, Lismore, and Coffs Harbour – and on the Gold Coast will be able to watch TEN programs such as The Bachelorette, MasterChef Australia, Australian Survivor, as well as sporting events such as the KFC Big Bash Twenty20 League, the V8 Supercars, and the Formula One in high definition.
TEN HD will be available on HD Mpeg 4 capable receivers and will be available on channel 52, while ONE will revert to a standard definition channel.
Rick Lenarcic, head of regional media at SCA, said the group recognises how much viewers value the superior quality of HD television.
“SCA is committed to continually improving television services for our viewers, and this is demonstrated by our added investment in the equipment and transmission needed to bring HD to the Ten viewers in northern NSW and the Gold Coast,” he said.
