Ten Hasn’t Ruled Out Prime Time Finale For The Biggest Loser (As 89K Tune In For Day Time)

Ten’s The Biggest Loser: Transformed has proven TV’s dud of 2017, however, the network hasn’t ruled out running the finale in a prime-time slot.

The show was initially dumped from Sunday nights before it had the ignominy of being moved from its 7pm weekday slot back to a 1pm start time on Monday. It was pulling around 250,000 viewers of an evening and that dropped back to 89,000 lunchtime viewers yesterday according to OzTam audience numbers.

Ten has confirmed that the $100,000 prize money for the winning contestant will not be affected by the rescheduling and a spokesman for the network said a prime-time finale was also on the cards.

“Viewers of The Biggest Loser: Transformed will still be able to enjoy the finale, and see the culmination of the incredible transformation of the contestants,” he told industry site TV Tonight. “We will announce the plans for the finale in due course.”

The show has failed to resonate with viewers after original hosts Michelle Bridges and Steve “Commando” Willis were dumped from the hosting spot in favour of a new line-up. It also appears viewers aren’t happy with the contestants either, with some derided as not being fat enough to be on the program.
