The session select platform for panel and speaker submissions is open for the inaugural running of SXSW Sydney.
Running from 15-22 October, SXSW Sydney promises to bring together “Asia-Pacific’s pre-eminent creative industries” with more than 200 presentations, panels, workshops, and mentor sessions across four content pillars: Tech and Innovation, Gaming, Music, Screen and Culture.
The session select platform, which closes for entries on Valentine’s Day next year, is looking for panels on everything from climate change to the metaverse to “future-facing ideas presented by the budding visionaries behind them.” Some remit.
Submissions aren’t limited to Aussies, either with individuals from around the world encouraged to submit their proposal for a solo presentation, panel, workshop or meet-up.
Once submissions close, participants will be able to vote for what they want to see at the event. Voting results, alongside input and advice from SXSW Sydney’s independent industry advisory boards and official programming teams, will determine the final content line-up for the 2023 conference.
Applications to participate in the SXSW Sydney Screen Festival, as well as the SXSW Sydney Music Festival will open earlier on 18 January — get practicing your Wonderwall renditions.
“Sydney’s diversity makes it the perfect incubator for creativity and we’re lucky that so many artists, creative thinkers and innovative businesses call it home,” said Colin Daniels, managing director of SXSW Sydney.
“Next October, SXSW Sydney will place a global spotlight on our region’s creative community, highlighting the incredible ideas, sounds and skills found in Sydney and the Asia-Pacific – and the best part is that with our range of event formats and Session Select platform, anyone can be involved.”
“With SXSW Sydney Session Select, we are looking for brilliant ideas and speakers with the most relevant, timely, forward-thinking and future-focused ideas to share,” Fenella Kernebone, head of conference programming at SXSW Sydney.
“This is a unique opportunity to showcase your creativity and to critically engage with audiences in your industry and beyond. We cannot wait to hear from the SXSW Sydney community.”
