There’s a slew of new shows on the telly at the moment but it would appear viewers are flocking to the ABC stalwarts.

Last night the ABC’s Doc Martin pulled an impressive 997,000 viewers followed by (soon to be on Seven) The Doctor Blake Mysteries that had 885,000. The ABC’s 7pm news bulletin also pulled a healthy 876,000.

Meanwhile, over at the free-to-airs Nine’s new Family Food Fight continues to flounder, managing only 525,000 last night despite it being an elimination episode.

Seven’s The Wall pulled 755,000 viewers but was still down 22 per cent from its launch episode.

Seven won the night with 31.9 per cent audience share (however, it was helped by its rugby league World Cup coverage on 7mate), followed by Nine with 26.5 per cent, the ABC had 22.2 per cent, Ten’s woes continued with 12.9 per cent and SBS managed 6.5 per cent.

Seven won the battle of the 6pm news bulletins (916,000) versus Nine’s (830,000).

Both 60 Minutes (588,000) and Seven’s Sunday Night (656,000) had reasonably disappointing evenings.

It was all misery over at Ten. It’s best was The Sunday Project with 363,000 followed by Bull with 286,000.

The SBS’s best was Secrets of the Pyramids which managed a mummifying 250,000.
