Sandwich chain Subway has severed ties with its long-time ambassador Jared Fogle, known as the ‘Subway Guy’, after allegations Fogle paid for sex with a minor.

The tweets from the official Subway account in the US condemn Fogle’s actions, saying they are “inexcusable”.

We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment.

Jared Fogle’s actions are inexcusable and do not represent our brand’s values. We had already ended our relationship with Jared.

Many media outlets –  such as The Huffington Post and The Guardian – are reporting Fogle will plead guilty to allegations he paid for sex acts with minors. The alleged claims are reported in a document from federal prosecutors.

Fogle had had his house raided in early July this year by federal agents, reported The Wall Street Journal.

At the time, Subway announced it had suspended its contract with Fogle amid the ongoing investigation, with a spokesperson for Subway Australia telling B&T it didn’t have a relationship currently, and hadn’t for some time, with the decade-long spokesperson.

Fogle rose to advertising fame in early 2000s when he first appeared in Subway’s commercials touting a slim frame, holding his large jeans next to him.
