Spotify Wrap Reveals Taylor Swift Was Australia’s Most Streamed Artist Of The Year

The year is coming to a close and Spotify has unveiled its annual 2021 wrap, so what did everyone listen to while trying to survive a global pandemic? the answer is pop.
In Australia, Taylor Swift was the streamed artist of the year – I mean there’s no denying that Evermore and Folklore both really dug into the vibe that was 2021.
Meanwhile, Glass Animal’s ‘Heat Waves’ took the top spot as the country’s most-streamed track – you probably also heard it on TikTok.
The Kid LAROI has featured heavily in this year’s wrapped, not only on the global list but also coming out on top as Australia’s most streamed local artist.
Three of his songs were also in Australia’s most-streamed tracks by Australian artists, including ‘STAY’ (with Justin Bieber)” taking out #1 spot, ‘WITHOUT YOU’ at #2 and ‘SO DONE’ at #4 – banger after banger!
Aussie’s also couldn’t get enough of Olivia Rodrigo’s album SOUR, which topped the country’s most-streamed album, followed by Ed Sheeran’s “=” and The Kid LAROI’s “F*CK LOVE (SAVAGE)” coming in at third.
In Global artist news, with more than 9.1 billion streams this year, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is our most-streamed artist of 2021. The second most-streamed artist – and most streamed female artist of the year – is Taylor Swift, followed by BTS, Drake and Justin Bieber.
The most-streamed song of 2021 is Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘drivers license’ with more than 1.1 billion streams this year. In the second and third spots respectively, are Lil Nas X’s ‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)’ and ‘STAY (with Justin Bieber)’ by The Kid LAROI (#3).
The fourth most-streamed song of the year is another one from Olivia Rodrigo with ‘good 4 u’, followed by ‘Levitating (feat. DaBaby)’ by Dua Lipa.
The most-streamed album globally of 2021 is Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR, followed by Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia and Justin Bieber’s Justice. Rounding out the list of top albums are Ed Sheeran’s = and Doja Cat’s Planet Her.
In podcast news, in Australia a mix of genres made the most streamed podcasts for Australians, with The Joe Rogan Experience coming out on top, followed by ABC News Briefing and Casefile True Crime.
Globally, The Joe Rogan Experience takes the number one slot for the most popular podcast of the year globally. Coming in second and third are Call Her Daddy and Crime Junkie. The fourth most popular podcast is TED Talks Daily, followed by The Daily.
