It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for Prime Minister Tony Abbott with the Brownyn Bishop expenses scandal and the vote for the part to remain opposed to same-sex marriage.
Data from media intelligence company Meltwater suggests much of the population took to social media platforms to share their opinions of the same-sex marriage debate, with the data seeing a surge of negativity for Abbott.
It was roughly 34.45 thousand users who buzzed about the decision on social media, and when it came to mentions, Abbott was right in the thick of it.

Social media has had a lot to say about Brownyn Bishop’s resignation as Speaker as well, with the hashtag #putyourwallets out trending on Twitter the day of the announcement.
