Shop! ANZ is calling on shopper and retail marketing professionals from all retail related disciplines to participate in the first ANZ Shopper and Retail Marketing Industry Survey in four years.

This important research provides a guide of where the retail marketing industry in Australia and New Zealand has come from and what is anticipated to play out in the coming three years, covering off issues and trends such as budgets, digital, experiential, internal structures and sustainability, among other things.

Survey participants will receive a free copy of the resulting research report, valued at $295. A deep dive into the findings of the research will be presented at the Shop! ANZ 2021 Retail Marketing Online Conference from September 6-7, 2021.

The survey can be found here.

The 2021 State of Retail Marketing Survey will be conducted by Shop! ANZ together with Norrelle Goldring, Executive Director of Illuminera.

Goldring founded the inaugural Shopper Marketing industry benchmark study more than a decade ago and has continued to conduct this important industry research every three years since.

The 2020 report was placed on hold as a result of the disruption of COVID-19, but with the market now beginning to resume to previous levels of activity, it has never been more important to have a gauge of where the industry is moving to.

Shop! ANZ General Manager, Carla Bridge, said the survey is one of the biggest of its kind in the world, with several hundred people participating.

“We invite retailers, brands, manufacturers, and retail-related agencies of all types to provide their views by July 9, so we can collectively understand how much progress the industry has made in the past three years and gauge how we can expect retail marketing to change,” Bridge said.

“This is especially important in light of recent events where it is becoming harder and harder to predict what we can expect to see for the future, this research will be an invaluable barometer of retail marketing.”

Goldring said previous surveys have led to a raft of measures for industry improvement and the refocus of Shop! ANZ to develop shopper marketing tools and education for the industry in Australia and New Zealand.

Shop! ANZ invites shopper and retail marketing professionals from all retail-related disciplines to participate in the triennial Shop! State of Retail Marketing Survey.

Focus areas of the 2021 State of Retail Marketing Survey include:

  • Experience, support and resource levels in individuals and organisations
  • Shopper marketing activations types, touchpoints, and measurement
  • Digital, mobile and social shopper and retail marketing practice
  • Trends, Challenges & the Future

How to participate:

Visit the survey directly here. The survey will remain open until July 9.

Participants are encouraged to share the survey link to any and all relevant industry contacts for completion – the more industry participants that respond, the greater our view will be across the industry.
