Rupert Murdoch Causes Twitter Meltdown With Tweet About Barack Obama

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch recently caused social media chaos with a tweet about US President Barack Obama.

Ben and Candy Carson terrific. What about a real black President who can properly address the racial divide? And much else.

— Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) October 8, 2015

The tweet was apparently in response to Ben Carson, a politician who is running for the Presidency, and his appearance on a Fox News segment called Kelly File, hosted by Megyn Kelly. It was preceded up by a promotional tweet for Carson’s appearance…

Don’t miss Ben Carson tonight on Kelly File. — Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) October 6, 2015

…and followed up by a tweet suggesting readers read New York Magazine.

Read New York magazine for minority community disappointment with POTUS

— Rupert Murdoch (@rupertmurdoch) October 8, 2015

US publication Variety said Murdoch had not been shy in his support of Carson for President. However, Twitter users were quick to jump on the middle tweet which some have suggested was taking a racial swipe at Obama.

So what, exactly, does @rupertmurdoch mean by “a real black President”? https://t.co/1p9SksB2FC — Amy Davidson (@tnyCloseRead) October 8, 2015

@rupertmurdoch Can you please regularly advise black Americans on which of them is “real”, so they’ll be free of doubt?

— Harry Shearer (@theharryshearer) October 8, 2015

Really, @rupertmurdoch? Now you’re just being silly. — Norman Lear (@TheNormanLear) October 8, 2015

Oh dear @rupertmurdoch, you are going to get flogged for suggesting Barack Obama is not “a real black president”. You need a Twitter editor!

— Stephen Mayne (@MayneReport) October 8, 2015

@MikeCarlton01 @rupertmurdoch I think it’s more that Rupert is just a massive fuckwit — Ryan (@kanavagh) October 8, 2015

Rupert Murdoch. Twitter’s racist uncle. — Chris Addison (@mrchrisaddison) October 8, 2015

Dear real black people. We white people are trying really hard to collect Rupert Murdoch. Only a few more horcruxes to get. Sorry about him.
