The familiar sporting banter of Aussie comics Roy Slaven & HG Nelson is about to become a regular part of the Triple M airwaves, with the duo set to make a permanent return to the network in 2017.
Triple M has announced that Slaven and Nelson will host a national Saturday morning show next year called The Sporting Probe with Roy & HG, where they will provide a unique take on significant sporting events around Australia, kicking off with the Australian Open tennis tournament in January.
Having recently hosted a daily show on Triple M during the Rio Olympics, Nelson said he and Slaven are pumped to be back permanently at the network.
“Rampaging Roy Slaven was recently acknowledged by the AFL and Racing Victoria as Australia’s number one prober,” he said.
“To have Roy back on air seeing gaping holes that need vigorous probing completes a Triple M line up for 2017 that has its hoof on the till of ratings success. I am simply over the super moon.”
Triple M’s head of content, Mike Fitzpatrick, described having Roy & HG back at the network as like having Kevin Sheedy back at the Essendon Bombers, Wayne Bennett back at the Brisbane Broncos or Bob Simpson back in the Aussie cricket team.
“It just makes sense,” he said.
