Radio Ratings: Alan’s Back In Business (And So Is Richard Glover)

Welcome to the second GfK Metro Radio Survey for 2020, and the last one for potentially a while…

As recently stated by Commercial Radio Australia, surveys 3, 4 and 5 will be put on hold due to government restrictions related to COVID-19. So, you best enjoy this ratings story because who knows when you’ll get another.

While numbers may differ due to the coronavirus impact, everyone is in the same boat and affected the same way. So, where does the radio industry currently stand?

Alan Jones is still king of Sydney radio with 2GB the number one breakfast spot (17.9 per cent, up 3.1 per cent), as 2GB remains in top spot overall (14.8 per cent, up 1.6 per cent). Meanwhile, ABC’s Richard Glover has moved into the number one drive spot (up 2.6 per cent to 11.7 per cent). On the FM band, KIIS 106.5’s Kyle & Jackie O rose from 0.3 to 10.2 per cent, while WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda did 9.1 per cent, and Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa 7.7 per cent.

In Melbourne 3AW’s Ross and John are still number one in brekky (17.3 per cent, up 1.4 per cent), while 3AW reigns overall (13.9 per cent, up 0.6 per cent).On FM, GOLD’s Christian O’Connell is in the top spot for the second consecutive survey.

Breakfast

First: 2GB’s The Alan Jones Breakfast Show (up 3.1 per cent to 17.9 per cent)

Second: ABC Sydney’s Breakfast with Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck (down -0.9 per cent to 10.9 per cent)

Third: KIIS 106.5’s Kyle & Jackie O (up 0.3 per cent to 10.2 per cent)

Drive

First: ABC Sydney’s Richard Glover (up 2.6 per cent to 11.7 per cent)

Second: 2GB’s Ben Fordham (up 0.3 per cent to 10.5 per cent)

Third: Nova 96.9’s Kate, Tim & Marty (down -1.3 per cent to 9.0 per cent) and KIIS 106.5’s Will and Woody (9.0 per cent).

MELBOURNE

Breakfast

First: 3AW’s Ross and John (up 1.4 per cent to 17.3 per cent)

Second: ABC Melbourne (up 0.7 per cent to 11.8 per cent)

Third: Gold 104.3’s The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show (up 0.2 per cent to 9.4 per cent)

Drive

First: 3AW Drive with Tom Elliot (up 0.3 per cent to 11.9 per cent)

Second: Nova 100’s Kate, Tim & Marty (down -1.0 per cent to 10.3 per cent)

Third: smoothfm 91.5’s Byron Web (down -0.3 per cent to 10.1 per cent)

BRISBANE

Breakfast

First: HIT 105’s Stav, Abby & Matt (up 0.4 per cent to 11.8 per cent)

Second: ABC Brisbane’s Craig Zonca and Loretta Ryan (up 0.8 per cent to 10.6 per cent)

Second: 97.3FM’s Robin, Terry & Bob  (up 0.3 per cent to 10.4 per cent)

Drive

First: Nova 106.9’s Kate, Tim & Marty and Fitzy & Wippa (down -0.2 per cent to 14.4 per cent)

Second: Hit 105’s Hughesy & Kate (up 0.5 per cent to 11.5 per cent)

Third: 97.3’s Will & Woody (down -1.1 per cent to 10.8 per cent)

ADELAIDE

Breakfast

First: ABC Adelaide’s Breakfast with Ali Clarke (up 1.2 per cent to 16.7 per cent)

Second: FIVEaa’s David Penberthy and Will Goodings (up 3.5 per cent to 13.9 per cent)

Third: Mix 102.3’s Jodie & Soda (down -1.0 per cent per cent to 10.6 per cent)

Drive

First: Nova 91.9’s Kate, Tim & Marty (down -1.0 per cent to 15.0 per cent)

Second: Mix 102.3’s Will & Woody (down -0.5 per cent to 12.1 per cent)

Third: Hit 107’s Bec & Cosi (down -0.5 per cent to 9.0 per cent)

PERTH

Breakfast:

First: Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun (down -2.0 per cent to 13.5 per cent)

Second: 96FM’s Botica’s Brunch (down -2.4 per cent to 10.9 per cent)

Third: Mix94.5’s Clairsy, Matt & Kymba (up 1.9 per cent to 10.6 per cent)

Drive:

First: Nova 93.7’s Kate, Tim & Marty (down -2.1 per cent to 12.7 per cent)

Second: Mix94.5’s Kennedy Molloy (up 2.9 per cent to 11.9 per cent)

Third: 96FM’s Will & Woody (down -1.1 per cent to 11.5 per cent)
