Uswitch analysed playlist data on Spotify, adding up the most commonly played songs and artists on poo playlists, to figure which was number one during the number twos.

The data reveals that the TikTok famous ‘Sweater Weather’ by the Neighbourhood is the song that is most listened to whilst pooping; despite originally being released in 2013, the soft-grunge track has recently found fame again nearly 10 years on, resulting in over 5 million streams in November 2020 alone.

Frank Ocean’s ‘Chanel,’ famed for its chilled-out piano accompaniment, takes second-place as it features on 38 pooping playlists, followed by ‘505’ by Arctic Monkeys, which is yet another track with a soft keys background which the band claimed was their first proper love song.

Interestingly, all three of these songs have openly been labelled as love songs; both ‘Sweater Weather’ and ‘Chanel’ are explorations of fluidity and LGBTQ+ relationships, while ‘505’ literally refers to the hotel room number that Alex Turner’s (Arctic Monkeys frontman) girlfriend was staying in at the time he wrote this song.

Top 20 Artists We Listen To Whilst On The Loo

According to the research, rapper Juice WRLD is the most listened to artist whilst in the bathroom, featuring on 580 playlists associated with toilet-time – three of his songs also feature in the top 20 pooping songs, showing that fans love the rapper’s music, who sadly passed in 2019, no matter where they are. Tyler, The Creator is second on the list of most popular artists for pooping playlists, while Eminem comes in at third place, featuring on 460 playlists in total.

It’s interesting that the top 20 favourite people to share this private moment with are mostly rap artists; in fact, only four of the artists on the list – Joji, Artic Monkeys, Mitski, and Billie Eilish – aren’t rappers.

The Pop Poop Playlist

Outside of the top 20 list are many of our favourite pop artists who we frequently dominate the charts; including Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift who all feature in the top 10.

However, on this list are also many British artists who were making the charts pre-millennia, such as Elton John (12th) and Queen (13th) who were both most popular during the 1970s. Slightly further down are The Beatles who were most popular during the 60’s but they currently feature on 74 toilet-time playlists.
