Pinterest Launches ‘Idea Pins’ For Creators

Pinterest has launched a new video-first tool for creators, aimed at helping people on the platform better express their ideas.

‘Idea Pins’ will give creators a new suite of publishing tools including, video-first features, voice recording, fresh editing tools and other updates.

The new tool comes as a follow up to ‘Story Pins’, which have been tested in beta over the past few months.

Idea Pins are now available to all creators in Australia, the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

“When people come to Pinterest, we want them to find great ideas to take action on as well as meet the people behind the ideas. We want to attract and build a vast talent pool of creators who serve Pinterest users the inspiration they can take action on. Idea Pins make it easy for creators to share inspiring and engaging content on Pinterest. We’re excited that people can follow their favourite creators in ANZ as well as discover new ones through the new discovery surfaces we are introducing,” said Zoe Pearson, Head of Content and Creators for Australia at Pinterest.

Pinterest’s co-founder, chief design and creative officer Evan Sharp added that Idea Pins will help creators feel comfortable sharing their ideas on the platform.

“We believe the best inspiration comes from people who are fueled by their passions and want to bring positivity and creativity into the world. From creators to hobbyists to publishers, Pinterest is a place where anyone can publish great ideas and discover inspiring content,” Sharp said.

“With Idea Pins, creators are empowered to share their passions and inspire and grow their audiences. By helping people on Pinterest spark creativity, try new things, build confidence, and be themselves, we believe creators are truly helping with our mission of bringing inspiration to create a life you love.”
