Nova has officially launched a new Sunday show for its Brisbane station featuring NRL star Benji Marshall and a former radio host of KIIS FM’s 3PM Pick-Up – his wife, Zoe.
Meet the Marshalls kicked of yesterday on Nova 106.9, and will be broadcast live every Sunday from 7am to 9am.
The pair has stressed that the new show will not focus on sports, but rather be a candid glimpse into their marriage and lives, with the show being described as a voyeuristic look at an unconventional marriage.
“They say opposites attract, which is perfectly true for Benj and I, as he is fiercely private and I’m an open book,” Zoe said.
“I know Benj is going to say repeatedly on Sunday ‘that’s a no-go zone for me’, but I have always been a ‘do things in the moment and figure it as you go’ kind of girl, but we always have fun and I know Benj always has my back.”
Jay Walkerden, general manager and program director at Nova 106.9, said it was a bold move for the new Brisbane Broncos recruit and his wife to invite listeners into their lives every Sunday.
“Everyone at Nova is excited to Meet the Marshalls, because we know we are going to discover that there is much more to Beni than brilliant football, and Zoe is someone listeners are going to love because she is funny and fearless,” he said.
