[B&T warns this article contains themes and language some readers may find offensive.] A Canadian journalist has shared video of shameful abuse she received while trying to film a piece to camera during a live broadcast.

Reporter Krista Sharpe was on assignment for CTV News in Kitchener in Ontario on Monday when a passing driver screamed, “F@ck her right in the pussy”.

Sharpe is a VJ or video journalist meaning she works alone without any support and films her news hits selfie-style without the aid of a camera operator.

The visibly shaken journalist later shared the video via Twitter with the message: “As much as I’d love to say it doesn’t bother me, it does. It makes me feel like sh*t. Especially as VJ who is always alone. This still happens to female reporters everywhere and it needs to stop.”

This is not funny and it’s not cool. As much as I’d love to say it doesn’t bother me, it does. It makes me feel like sh*t. Especially as VJ who is always alone. This still happens to female reporters everywhere and it needs to stop. pic.twitter.com/NsqJJsrOno

The video has reportedly been viewed more than 3.2 million times and local police are said to be investigating.

Check out some of the feedback to Sharpe’s tweet below:
