Two decades ago Tiger Woods was undoubtedly the hottest sports star on the planet and the man who singlehandedly made golf cool again (until Donald Trump went and ruined it all.)
Woods’ cachet may have cooled in recent times following a number of personal dramas that included a serious car crash a year ago that had doctors contemplating amputating the 46-year-old’s leg.
Woods made his comeback at the weekend’s Masters at the legendary Augusta course in Georgia, finishing in 47th position.
To celebrate his return, Nike – who’s stood by him practically his entire career – has released a new ad celebrating Woods’ quarter of a century in the game and his first Masters win back in 1997 that made him a global superstar.
The ad is narrated by rapper and golf fanatic ScHoolboy Q and uses footage from throughout Tigers’ illustrious career dating back to when he was a child prodigy.
The spot’s the work of Nike’s incumbent creative agency Wieden+Kennedy and comes with all the anger, pathos and energy you’d expect from a Nike ad. Check it out below:
