Last night’s MasterChef was but one part of a two part finale, scoring 799,000 viewers as per OzTAM’s metro data.

You could tell it was a special episode, because Jock Zonfrillo was wearing a kilt, which is always an indicator of a good time.

It’s been a real month for prime time finales, so let’s do a little comparison.

MasterChef has so far beaten Big Brother, which peaked at 726,000 for the winner’s announcement (the rest of the ep scored 672,000). Australian Ninja Warrior, though, had 918,000 for the winner’s announcement and 815,000 for the rest of the ep.

All eyes will be on tomorrow’s ratings to see if the Grand Finale will take the cake from ANW .

Given it’s MasterChef, we can hope there will be a literal cake as well as a metaphorical one.

On top overall was Nine News, continuing a two-night streak with 1,184,000 viewers. Seven News followed with 1,113,000 viewers while ABC News had 797,000, A Current Affair had 783,000 and 7.30 had 715,000.

10 continued to dominate the entertainment ratings with Have You Been Paying Attention? which had 674,000 viewers.

Seven’s Farmer Wants A Wife had 660,000 viewers, while Nine’s Beauty and the Geek slipped from its premiere to 622,000 – a fall of 186,000.

The rest of Seven’s night saw Home and Away score 633,000 viewers while The Chase had 598,000.

For Nine, Hot Seat had 571,000.

Over on 10, The Project had 527,000 viewers while 10 News First had 421,000.

Finally, for the ABC, Media Watch had 451,000, Four Corners had 450,000 and Courtney Act’s One Plus One had 380,000.

On top overall was the Seven Network with 27.6 per cent of the daily share. It was a very tight race between the Nine Network and Network 10 for second place, too. Nine just won out with 24.9 per cent of the share, as opposed to 10’s 24.3 per cent.

Next was the ABC Network with 16.3 per cent, while the SBS Network had 6.9 per cent.
