Controversial My Kitchen Rules (MKR) NSW besties Sonya and Hadil have taken to Instagram to address being booted from the show on Wednesday.

The episode was fraught with drama, as Sonya and Hadil came to blows with fellow contestants Jess and Emma.

During an awkward dinner scene, Sonya and Hadil continually called Emma a “pufferfish” and proceeded threatened other contestants.

The verbal tirade reached fever pitch when Sonya and Hadil were forced to leave the table by judge Manu.

Now, the pair have released a statement over their joint Instagram account, slamming the show’s producers for unfairly editing the scenes.

The first post, the pair told viewers not to be “fooled” by the show.

In the second, more recent post, Sonya and Hadil apologised for offending viewers, however, refused to apologise to Channel Seven.

“There is more to the ‘scandal’ than meets the eye, however, we take full responsibility for the words that came out of our mouths and we sincerely apologise.”

“Like any reality TV show, no one but the people on-set filming 10-14 hour days know exactly what goes on behind the tears, the tension, the smiles, the reactions & the words exchanged.”

“We will not apologise to the network who twisted, provoked and fuelled this entire situation all for ratings.”

“We do however wish to apologise to the viewers for having to witness the situation which should have never gone to air.”

“We wish the remaining teams in the competition the best of luck. Sonya & Hadil x”

Speaking on Sunrise about the rivalry contestant Jess said: “There is no place for bullying in any way, shape or form.”

“I think Australia really needs to look at that if they’re so against bullying and what happened on the show, they just really need to go easy on the girls as well.

“Emma and I know first-hand what that’s like to be trolled online … we’ve forgiven and I think Australia needs to do the same and bullying is not acceptable.”
