Paragon Media and Hearst have announced that Ben Jhoty will be taking over as editor-in-chief of the brand, effective immediately.
Jhoty takes on the position, recently vacated by Scott Henderson, after serving as Henderson’s deputy editor since 2019.
On the promotion, Jhoty said: “I am delighted to take over as Editor-in-Chief and am really looking forward to sinking my teeth into the role. As someone who started at Men’s Health back in my twenties and have worked my way up, I know the brand inside out and am so grateful for the opportunity to take the helm as we enter an exciting period of growth.
“Outgoing editor Scott Henderson has left an extremely solid foundation for me and I am keen to continue the work he started in increasing MH’s audience footprint across our print, digital and social platforms, while making the brand a more open and inclusive forum for discussion of men’s physical and mental health, as well as social issues.
“Paragon is committed to helping Men’s Health grow and succeed and we have a fantastic opportunity to cement our status as Australia’s no.1 men’s lifestyle brand. As a multifaceted, 360-degree offering boasting a unique combination of brand heritage, editorial excellence and commercial savvy, Men’s Health is an unparalleled destination for PR and advertising partners looking to make a splash in the men’s lifestyle space.”
As part of a team restructure, former associate editor Dan Williams has been appointed deputy editor, while Henderson will remain attached to the brand as fitness editor.
As a long-time stalwart of Men’s Health, Jhoty says he attempts to honour the brand’s aspirational, health-conscious ethos on weekdays, while living marginally larger on weekends. In his free time, he’s a keen NBA fan and plays Saturday morning pick-up games with a group of other dads. He also likes to run, work out and binge on streaming shows. When he’s not working on health and fitness content, Jhoty writes fiction, releasing a debut novel in 2020, with a new book, inspired by a Men’s Health feature story, in the works.
