Having spent more than three years with Canva, Lisa Miller has not only experienced a great period of growth for the company, she’s also been able to mentor over 10 different women in the company.
With roles ranging from content creator and experimentation, to product and team growth, Miller also inspires her team with her own story, and in 2019 delivered a keynote to a theatre of thousands in the tech industry (at the AWS Summit) to inspire more people to push beyond their limits.
She also helped curate the organisation’s detailed mentoring program, which has now been rolled out to the 800+ employees worldwide, with over 160+
coaches.
The program is structured in such a way that once an employee reaches six months, they take on the responsibility of mentoring someone.
In terms of her mentorship style, Miller’s approach is dynamic, from different resources suiting different learning styles, through to women being at different stages of their life and career journeys.
As Canva has continued to grow in recent years Miller has played an influential role in the hiring process, interviewing the most number of candidates out of anyone in the company.
She has also developed planning and goal setting frameworks and annual planning processes for the whole company.
On the back of such efforts, Canva now has a Talent Centre of Excellence to align and create a forum for specialty leads to come together, share and work towards a shared goal.
